Airtel for Tata’s O-Ron based network solution

Reliance Jio is partnering with Bharti Airtel to launch 5G network solutions for India to build its own 5G telecommunications network based on open source technologies.

The Tata Group has developed an O-Ron-based Radio & NSA / SA core and integrates a domestic telecommunications hierarchy to enhance team capabilities and its partners.

It will be available for business development from January 2022. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) brings its global system integration expertise and as the network and equipment become increasingly embedded it helps to streamline the final solution from 3GB to O-Ron standards, in software.

Airtel will pilot and deploy this domestic solution as part of its 5G rollout plans in India and launch the pilot in January 2022 as per the guidelines laid down by the Government of India.

These ‘Made in India’ 5G products and solutions are compliant with global standards and operate with other products based on standard open interfaces and other products as defined by the O-Ron Alliance.

Airtel’s diversified and commercially proven 5G solutions on the Brownfield network will open up export opportunities for India, which is now the world’s second-largest telecommunications market.
