Prices of Jeera Drop as Farmers Hold 30% of the Cumin Stock

Jeera prices dropped by 0.36% to 24,935 due to increased supply and pressure from ongoing arrivals. 30% of cumin stocks are held by farmers, with daily arrivals in Unjha ranging from 12,000 to 17,000 bags.

Despite the pressure, the export market remains active, with prices quoted between $3,150 and $3,200 per tonne. Demand is particularly strong from Pakistan, which is purchasing Indian cumin via Dubai.

India is benefiting from lower cumin prices compared to China, boosting exports. Export trade has surged, with 100 to 125 containers exported over the past month, driven by Middle East tensions.

Exports from July to September 2024 reached 52,022 metric tonnes, marking a 128% year-on-year increase.
