Strait of Hormuz Blockade: Trump’s Threat!!!

Following the failure of peace talks with Iran, U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that he could block the Strait of Hormuz—a critically important maritime passage. This narrow sea route connects the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea. It is the most vital oil transportation route in the world; approximately 20% of the crude oil consumed globally passes through this channel.

Consequently, if the United States were to block this route, oil exports and imports would be disrupted—not only for Iran but for numerous other nations as well. As supply dwindles while demand remains constant, oil prices would naturally surge. For this very reason, crude oil prices rose sharply immediately after the news broke; in some markets, the price per barrel neared $140.

However, the silver lining is that negotiations have not yet completely collapsed. There remains a possibility that the two nations will resume dialogue. Thus, while the situation currently remains in a state of uncertainty, it could either be resolved in the future or deteriorate further. This issue carries the potential to drive up oil prices, place the global economy under strain, and even heighten the risk of war.
