Turmeric prices fall on high supply!!!

Turmeric prices fell marginally by 0.25% to ₹13,778 on weak export orders and a surge in the market. Over 57,500 quintals were brought in, almost three times more than the previous day, which pushed down prices.

However, prices may not fall much as concerns remain over lower production and lower supply. About 3.30 lakh hectares, which is 10% more than last year – although more land has been used for turmeric cultivation, unexpected rains have affected crop production.

The new crop is expected to be 10–15% lower, with daily trading continuing at 1,000–1,200 bags, and about 50–55% of the season’s crop has already been traded. From April 2024 to March 2025, India exported 176,325 tonnes of turmeric – an increase of 8.83% over the previous year. However, exports in March 2025 declined by 13.41% compared to March 2024 but increased by 20.39% compared to February 2025, indicating a partial recovery in international demand.
