The state-owned power producer NTPC announced on Monday that its electricity production increased by over 12% between April – February of last year to 364.2 billion units. NTPC Ltd. “recorded 11.92% rise in generation, i.e. 364.2 BU in FY23 through February month, compared to the country’s generation growth of 9.56%,” according to a company release.
The installed capacity of the NTPC Group (including subsidiaries and joint ventures) is 71,594 MW.
According to the report, NTPC’s captive coal production in February increased by a significant 80% and 87% compared to the same month last year, standing at 2.6 million metric tonnes (MMT) and 2.5 million metric tonnes (MMT), respectively. In FY23, the total production of coal surpassed 20 MMT, it stated.
To increase the output of coal from its mines, NTPC has implemented a number of measures. According to the report, the operational mines have been able to boost production through the use of high-capacity dumpers and an expansion of the fleet size of excavators.
