Union Petrol Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced on Monday that the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) will go up by Rs 50 per cylinder from tomorrow morning for both Ujjwala (PMUY) and non-Ujjwala customers.
“The cost would increase from Rs 500 to Rs 550 per cylinder for PMUY beneficiaries. Puri stated that the price for other customers would rise from Rs 803 to Rs 853. He stated that every 15 days, the price increase for LPG will be evaluated and adjusted in accordance with global prices.
Women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) homes in rural India are to get clean cooking fuel, primarily LPG, from the government through the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).
According to Hardeep Singh Puri, the recent increase in petrol and diesel excise duties would not be passed on to consumers and is intended to partially make up for the Rs 43,000 crore in losses that oil marketing corporations suffered as a result of discounted petrol prices. It is reasonable to assume that oil marketing organisations will moderate petrol and diesel prices to reflect the worldwide pricing. You can anticipate that they will appropriately modify the market retail price in a deregulated industry,” he continued.
