Jeera prices rose by 0.45% to ₹24,400, driven by domestic demand and Gulf export interest. However, tight supplies, limited arrivals from Rajasthan, and delayed new crop arrivals from Gujarat further limit market availability.
Farmers hold around 20 lakh bags of cumin, with only 3-4 lakh bags expected to be traded before the end of the season. This could limit price rallies in the near term.
Cumin production for the 2023-24 season has improved significantly, reaching 8.6 lakh tonnes due to better sowing conditions and increased acreage. Exports from April to January 2025 surged by nearly 67% year-on-year to 1.82 lakh tonnes, up 37.82% compared to the same month last year.
