The Indian government has approved the procurement of moong and groundnut from Haryana, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh at the minimum support price (MSP), as well as a 15-day extension of the procurement period in Andhra Pradesh.
The Central Price Support Scheme (PSS) will be utilized for the procurement of summer crops in 2025-26. The Agriculture Minister approved the PSS to protect farmers’ interests and extend the procurement period for tur, urad, and Masur production in 2024-25.
The initiative has been extended for another four years until 2028-29. PSS procurement is conducted by the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (Nafed) and the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India (NCCF).
