The domestic sales of three-wheelers increased the most in September of the current fiscal year. A total of 50,626 units were sold domestically in September, up from 29,191 units in the same month the previous year, according to figures from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
The data showed that between April and September, 1,96,500 units were sold domestically and 2,12,126 units were exported. 95,451 units were sold domestically in total in 2021, while 2,58,012 units were exported. While domestic three-wheeler sales increased significantly, the export market saw a decline only in September, 32,642 units were shipped as opposed to 44,116 units in August. Between April and September, August had the greatest monthly export.
The demand during the festival season may have contributed to the increase in domestic sales. “The holiday period has
provided the market with some much-needed joy by making enticing offers and encouraging more purchases. We are pleased to report a 94% increase in sales year over year and an increase of more than 20% month over month, according to Suman Mishra, CEO of Mahindra Electric – Last Mile Mobility. Mahindra’s EV penetration reached 70% in September, demonstrating because, during this festival season, customers choose electric automobiles,” Mishra remarked.
