Premier Energies, a domestic company, claimed on Monday that it has secured several solar contracts with the Republic of Benin, West Africa, valued at USD 19.95 million (about Rs 177 crore). According to a statement from Premier Energies, these initiatives are a part of a nationwide initiative by the Government of Benin to increase access to clean, sustainable, and dependable energy.

Premier Energies will carry out the implementation in coordination with the General Directorate of Energy Planning and Rural Electrification, which is part of the Republic of Benin’s Ministry of Energy, Water, and Mines.

Through a Line of Credit between the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) and the Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank), USD 19.95 million in project financing has been acquired.

In addition to installing more than 4,400 high-efficiency solar streetlights and 650 solar water heaters, the contracts include the installation of 750 rooftop solar systems at important socio-community facilities, such as district police stations, schools, health centers, and special border surveillance units.

One of the biggest vertically integrated producers of solar cells and modules in India is Premier Energies, situated in Hyderabad. By June 2026, the company hopes to increase the capacity of its solar cell and module manufacturing to 8.4 GW and 11.1 GW, respectively.

In order to become one of the biggest producers of fully integrated renewable energy equipment worldwide, it is also branching out into related industries like ingots and wafers, battery storage, and solar inverters.
