In a regulatory filing, L&T Construction said on Friday that the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has awarded its Heavy Civil Infrastructure business vertical a mega order worth more than Rs.7000 crore for the design and construction of an underground road tunnel project between Orange Gate, Eastern Free Way, and Marine Drive Coastal Road in Mumbai.
According to the statement, “the main scope of work for the project comprises design & construction of twin road tunnels, using Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), connecting these tunnels to the existing elevated Eastern Freeway at Orange Gate near its southern terminal and to the Marine drive at Mumbai through transition ramps.”
The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Road will be predominantly traversed by the project alignment, which must be finished in 54 months. The corporation, it said, has greatly improved its capacity to construct dependable, quick mass transit networks, and this project is consistent with our strategic objectives.
The size of a significant order, according to the corporation, is between Rs 1000 crore and Rs 2500 crore, a big order is between Rs 2500 crore and Rs 5000 crore, a major order is between Rs 5000 crore and Rs 7000 crore, and a mega order is beyond Rs 7000 crore.
