JSW Energy looks at acquisitions in green energy

JSW Energy is considering several deals in the renewable energy sector, as financial investors are looking to sell their investments. These deals involve projects/companies with a capacity ranging from 500 MW to 3000-4000 MW.

JSW Energy is accelerating its solar projects due to the changing economics, with solar panel prices dropping and solar tariffs increasing. The company plans to bid for more hybrid storage and FDRE tenders and is looking into storage solutions such as hydro pumped storage and battery energy solutions.

Last year, JSW Energy signed a MOU to build 6,200 MW of green power for JSW Steel by 2030 and expects to sign a PPA of about 1,000 MW in the first phase over the next few months. However, the company won’t build any greenfield thermal projects in the near future. “We have not seen visibility of PPAs there. We will set it up only when there is somebody who will buy this power.
