Jeera futures fell by 1.56% to 18,910, driven by weak domestic and export demand post the peak retail season. Traders noted the end of retail buying and subdued foreign buyer interest. Farmers are holding around 20 lakh bags of jeera, with only 3-4 lakh bags expected to be traded before the season ends.
Production for the current season is estimated at 90-92 lakh bags, slightly lower than last year’s 1.10 crore bags. Indian exports have not seen a significant boost, while production estimates in China have been revised down due to adverse weather. Jeera exports during April-May 2025 fell by 27.07% to 42,925.74 tonnes.
