As part of the government’s efforts to control wheat and atta prices, state-owned FCI intends to sell 10.13 lakh tonnes of wheat to large users in the sixth round of an online auction on Wednesday. In order to keep prices under control, the Center has announced the sale of 50 lakh tonnes of wheat in the open market. Of this, 45 lakh tonnes have been set aside for large users, such as grain millers.
In the five rounds of e-auction that have been done so far, the Food Corporation of India (FCI) has sold 28.85 lakh tonnes of wheat to large consumers. In the sixth round of the e-auction, which will take place on March 15, FCI will offer bulk consumers 10.13 lakh tonnes of wheat, according to a senior government official. Wheat will be available through FCI’s 620 depots.
Under the Open Market Selling Program, FCI sold 5.39 lakh tonnes of wheat to large users in the previous round, including flour millers (OMSS). The official said that the country’s wheat and atta prices had decreased as a result of the selling of wheat in the open market.
