According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, increased semiconductor supply and seasonal demand led to a 21% yearly surge in passenger car wholesales in India in August. According to the most recent information provided by the industry group Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), deployments of passenger vehicles (PVs) to dealers totaled 2,81,210 units in August 2018 compared to 2,32,224 units in August 2021.
According to SIAM, wholesale sales of passenger cars increased by 23% last month to 1,33,477 units from 1,08,508 units in the same period the previous year. In August, utility vehicle dispatches increased by 20% to 1,35,497 units from 1,12,863 units in the same month a year prior. Similarly, total two-wheeler wholesales grew by 16% last month to 15,57,429 units from 13,38,740 units in the same period the previous year.
In August 2022, wholesale motorcycle sales increased by 23% to 10,16,794 units from 8,25,849 units in the corresponding month of the previous year. According to SIAM, scooter sales this month increased by 10% to 5,04,146 units from 4,60,284 units in August 2021.
Sales of three-wheelers as a whole increased last month by 63% to 38,369 units from 23,606 units in August 2021. From 15,94,573 units in the same month last year, sales across all sectors increased by 18% to 18,77,072 units in August of this year, according to SIAM.
