Spice Exports Up 6% on Strong Global Demand

India’s spices exports grew by 6.2% to $1.156 billion in Q1 FY25, driven by higher shipments of oleoresins, spice oils, mixes, chillies, and seed spices. Despite a slight dip in June, strong demand in April and May boosted overall performance.

The US, India’s second-largest spice market after China, saw a 15% rise in imports to $711.16 million in FY25. Fears of higher US tariffs from August could impact future shipments.

India remains the world’s top producer, consumer, and exporter of spices, exporting a record 17.99 lakh tonnes of spices and spice products in FY25.

However, the outlook for the remaining fiscal year remains cautiously optimistic as exporters monitor possible trade policy changes in the US.
