The 400 MW deal, which was signed by Suzlon Group on Thursday, comes from JSP Green Wind 1 Pvt Ltd, a division of Jindal Renewables Power Private Limited. The milestone order, according to the company, is the biggest Commercial & Industrial (C&I) gain in the sector. Suzlon’s cumulative order book currently stands at around 5.4 GW following this latest victory.
The company announced in a regulatory filing that it will provide 127 cutting-edge wind turbine generators (WTGs) with Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) towers in the Koppal area of Karnataka. Each HLT tower has a rated capacity of 3.15 MW.
India’s green energy targets will be advanced and steel plants in Chhattisgarh and Odisha will have more operational sustainability thanks to the usage of generated power for captive consumption.
“We are proud to partner with the Jindal Group in a bold step towards a low-carbon future, leveraging wind power to revolutionize steel production,” stated Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group. This innovative partnership not only redefines industrial sustainability but also fits in with India’s net-zero goal for 2070. By working together, we are establishing new standards for environmentally friendly business practices that promote growth.
“As part of our commitment to cleaner energy solutions, we are taking groundbreaking steps to integrate green energy into steelmaking, reducing the group’s overall carbon footprint and ensuring long-term sustainability,” says Bharat Saxena, President of Jindal Renewables. With the help of this partnership, sustainable steel production will enter a new age, allowing us to meet the Group’s 2047 net zero target.
“Decarbonization of the steel sector is a critical area that requires intervention if we want to realize India’s renewable energy targets,” stated JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon Group. As we all work together to create a more sustainable future, I do not doubt that this alliance will prompt many industry participants to reevaluate their practices.
