Tumeric prices rose 0.36% to ₹15,200 due to low arrivals in the market. Profits were limited as crop conditions remained stable with minor setbacks in weather. Inflows rose to 9,030 bags from 7,965 bags in the previous session, however, low stock levels in the market are providing basic support to prices till fresh supplies arrive.
Crop area is expected to increase by 30-35% in key growing regions like Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. This has increased the total sown area to 3.75-4 lakh hectares, as against 3-3.25 lakh hectares in the previous year.
Turmeric exports increased by 6.57% during April-October 2024. It increased to 108,879.96 tonnes as compared to the same period last year. In October 2024, exports increased by 57.22% year-on-year. However, imports increased by 118.99% over the same period, indicating high domestic demand and inventory replenishment.
